About Free Range Hobo

History

Free Range Hobo is a company founded in Denver, Colorado by Bradley Mott and Jennifer Shore-Holder after multiple conversations about traveling the world. They both shared a life goal to visit all the continents, became friends, and started planning. At the time of its creation, Brad had been to Europe and North America, while Jennifer had also visited Asia and northern Africa and was by far the more-seasoned traveler.

Since then, Brad and Jen have been all around the world, traveling both together and separately. They completed the visit to all seven continents together, touching down in Australia in September 2017. They have hiked mountains, sat mere feet away from wild lions, set sail for the bottom of the world, trekked the Amazonian rainforest, and jumped off bridges along the way to accomplishing this goal… and it makes for a fascinating read. You can read about their adventures using the tabs at the top of this page, and look back in time to see how their travel acumen has progressed, and how experiences have shaped them over the years.

The Name “Free Range Hobo”

At a breakfast one day with his family, Brad and his siblings were discussing the concept of “free range” chicken. The conversation eventually became about hobos who lived on trains and carried the sticks with tie-on sacks (the word for this is “bindle”). Brad has always been fond of making up band names for future use, and announced to the table “‘Free Range Hobo’ is the name of my rock band!”.

Well, Brad is great at writing, and isn’t so great with musical instruments… and it became a blog and business name instead.
