Preparing for Antarctica

By June 25, 2016October 14th, 2020No Comments

The time is coming near for our Antarctica Expedition! I cannot believe how much paperwork we have to sign in order to go. The stack of papers are close to an inch thick when printed, and signed. Like any good little student, I started to read the stacks of papers in front of me. You never know when reading contract documents what fun little tid-bits they add. You could have the usual “give your soul to Sony,” “first born child is the property of Apple.” You know.. the basics!

However, one note stood out to me while I was reviewing the documents. While reviewing the bedding configuration, it specifically mentions “Please note that in the case of triple-occupancy cabin, a queen can be provided only when all passengers in the cabin know each other. ”  I would LOVE to know the story behind this sentence and disclaimer. What has happened in the bedrooms that requires this level of detail. I imagine a story in which a desperate single person, lost on love in the US, ties to find true love on an expedition ship in the middle of the Antarctic. Maybe, a third person saw way more than expected in another scenario.

I guess we’ll have to ask the crews aboard ship when we go. Here’s to another 50 pages of reading to go 🙂
