We woke up to the sound of bird-calls very, very early in the morning the next morning. Yes… the booze that went along with the hamburgers may have had something to do with how slowly we got moving… but we did get on the road about when we expected to. Today we should hit Denver by about 2pm or 3pm if the drive went smoothly. The first thing on my mind was coffee, and after a bit of begging (kidding!) we pulled over at a gas station for food and drink supplies for the morning. COFFEE! I was so happy, it was just gas station drip coffee, but it was freshly-brewed, hot, and cut right through an odd chill in the early Shamrock Texas air as we started our trek northward.

The rest of the drive was truly uneventful. I slept through the “Welcome to Colorado” sign, unfortunately, but we just drove as quickly as possible to knock out the last few hours. We stopped for gas a time or two, grabbed snacks, and hit the pavement again. I got some good shots out the window, but that’s about it for photos today. As we approached Denver… Albert learned that a tropical storm was about to hit Florida, so he re-booked his flight for earlier to ensure he can get back to work on Monday. What had planned to be  a leisurely end to the trip ended up being a bit of a all-out dash to Denver International Airport… but we made it. I got out when Albert did, and picked up my car (Emily) from the parking lot. From there… we unloaded the RV into my car (now that we had random camping supplies, chairs, etc.,) and I took Aaron to his hotel for the night as Bubba drove the RV back to his family to start packing for their return trip across America to Florida. I pointed Emily northward, and about an hour and half later… I was home too.

All in all, I really enjoyed our adventure. These friends had been hanging out with me for about five years… but we’d never been in the same place. It was great to “meet” Albert, great to hang out with friends and have an adventure, great to get on the road and finally, finally have something to blog about again. It was fun to explore new places, overcome challenges (mainly with the RV), make plans on a whim, and step away from work and responsibility for a little while to go off on our own and create an adventure. I wouldn’t have changed a thing.
